Gutenbrick — last updated September 2, 2026
Short version: Gutenbrick does not collect personal information, has no account system, uses no analytics or advertising, and has no network access at all. All data stays exclusively on this device.
Gutenbrick is an iOS app that presents a shelf of curated, bundled public-domain books for offline reading on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, how it is used, and your choices.
Gutenbrick does not create user accounts, assign identifiers, or collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifying information.
The app stores the following local data solely to provide its core functionality:
| Data type | Purpose | Stored where |
|---|---|---|
| Reading goals | Track your reading targets | On-device only |
| Reading totals | Show your overall reading progress | On-device only |
| Activity calendar | Log which days you read | On-device only |
| Bookmarks | Save your place in a book | On-device only |
| Reader preferences | Remember your font, theme, and other reading choices | On-device only |
| Kid-mode score | Track progress in optional kid mode | On-device only |
No data is sent to any server. There is no backend, no cloud sync, and no iCloud integration.
Gutenbrick includes an optional block mode built on Apple’s Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks. When you turn on block mode, Apple presents the app-selection picker and provides Gutenbrick with opaque selection tokens — identifiers that are not on the app.
Gutenbrick can count the number of selections and ask iOS to shield the apps or websites behind them, but it cannot see the names of the apps or websites you chose. Your choices in block mode stay under Apple’s control on this device.
The curated library is bundled with Gutenbrick for offline reading. Gutenbrick does not download books, and it does not send your reading activity over the internet. No network server exists — every feature runs entirely on this device.
Gutenbrick uses none. There are no analytics SDKs, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or other third-party frameworks, and no tracking code of any kind. The app makes no network calls to any service.
All of Gutenbrick’s data is stored locally on this device. Your reading goals, totals, activity calendar, bookmarks, reader preferences, and kid-mode score remain until you change them or delete Gutenbrick. Deleting the app removes its on-device data, subject to any device backups you control. Because there is no server-side account or personal-data record, there is nothing to delete anywhere else.
Gutenbrick collects no personal information from any user, including children. The optional kid mode likewise keeps all data on this device.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised “last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy (September 2, 2026).
